2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 15 | Saturday January 31

  • Calvary FC 0-1 Kitara FC

Crispus Asiki struck early as Kitara FC wrapped up the first round of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League with a narrow 1–0 win over bottom-placed Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School Playground on Saturday.

The Royals wasted no time, taking the lead in the third minute. Patrick Kaddu slipped a smart pass through to Asiki, who calmly finished to hand Kitara an advantage they would not surrender.

Calvary responded with urgency as they searched for an equaliser, pushing forward in a spirited display driven by their relegation fight.

They increased the tempo and tested Kitara’s defence, but the visitors stayed organised and composed to see out the result.

The win leaves Kitara fifth on the table with 29 points, capping a steady rise after an inconsistent start to the season.

With several new players integrated early on, head coach Wasswa Bossa needed time to find balance, and the improved results now reflect that progress.

Kitara’s recent form has been impressive. In their last eight league matches, they have picked up six wins, one draw and just one defeat, a run matched only by leaders Vipers SC, who have collected 20 points over the same stretch.

For Calvary FC, it’s a troubling milestone. They are the first team since the 2016/17 season to finish the first round of the Uganda Premier League without a win.

That year, JMC Hippos and Kirinya JSS were in the same spot, JMC were relegated, while Kirinya found a way to recover. The second round will decide which path Calvary follow.

Elsewhere in the league, draws were the order of the day. Maroons and Mbarara City played out a 1–1 draw, URA were held 0–0 by Police, and NEC FC and Express FC also shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate.
