Uganda Premier League | Friday Results – Matchday 22

  • BUL 1-0 SC Villa
  • UPDF 0-0 NEC
  • Mbarara 0-2 URA

Eastern Giants BUL FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over reigning champions SC Villa in a tense Matchday 22 clash of the Uganda Premier League at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Friday evening.

SC Villa, riding high after a 1-0 win over Vipers were expected to dominate and complete a season double over BUL. However, it was the hosts who struck first. In the 21st minute, Jerome Kirya produced a moment of brilliance to break the deadlock.

Receiving a precise long ball from Thomas Ochungo, Kirya skillfully turned past defender Diego Ssemugera before unleashing a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Kibirige at the near post.

Villa responded immediately, pressing for an equalizer. Patrick Jonah Kakande squandered a golden chance set up by Lwanga while Elvis Ngonde’s well struck free kick was denied by the woodwork just before halftime.

With a 1-0 lead, BUL adopted a defensive approach in the second half, remaining disciplined and compact. Despite Villa’s attacking efforts, the visitors struggled to create clear cut chances. Referee Nasser Muhammad’s final whistle sealed a crucial victory for the hosts.

The win was particularly sweet revenge for BUL, who had suffered a 1-0 defeat to SC Villa at the same venue last season and a 2-1 loss in the first leg earlier this season.

BUL FC solidified their third place position with 39 points while SC Villa, stuck in eighth place with 30 points could potentially drop to ninth if Express FC wins their upcoming match against Maroons FC.
