2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 16 | Friday February 13,
- BUL FC 1-1 Vipers SC
BUL FC held league leaders Vipers SC to a 1-1 draw under the sun set at the FUFA Technical Center on Friday evening in a tense, hard fought contest.
The match began at a high tempo, with early physical exchanges setting the tone. Karim Watambala went down inside the opening minute appealing for an elbow, while Walter Ochola later required treatment after a clash of heads. It was clear this would be a battle.
Chances came at both ends in a lively first half, but clear opportunities were limited. The breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute.
After a poor clearance from a throw-in, Hilary Mukundane reacted quickly to set up Watambala, who produced a stunning overhead kick to give Vipers the lead.
Vipers took their 1-0 advantage into the break, though Ashiraf Mandela was booked late in the half.
BUL responded immediately after halftime. Just two minutes into the second half, Denis Ssewagudde swung in a corner and Abdul Karim Ndugwa rose highest to head home the equaliser.
The goal shifted momentum to the hosts. The game grew scrappy, with injuries and bookings disrupting the flow.
Vipers introduced Yunus Ssentamu and Gusto Mulongo in search of a winner, while Tadeo Lwanga also went into the referee’s book as tensions rose.
Despite late pressure, neither side could find a decisive goal. BUL stayed compact and disciplined, frustrating the visitors until the final whistle.
Watambala’s moment of brilliance was canceled out by Ndugwa’s header, while Ssewagudde’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

The result moves Vipers to 37 points, 2 clear at the top, while BUL climb to seventh on 20 points.
Next, Vipers host NEC FC on February 17, while BUL travel to face KCCA FC.
Elsewhere, UPDF FC and Buhimba United Saints played out a goalless draw in Bombo as the title race and mid table fight continue to tighten.
