  • Lugazi FC 2-1 BUL FC

BUL FC’s new chapter under returning coach Abbey Kikomeko Isabirye hit an early bump on Tuesday evening as Lugazi FC finally ended their long wait for a win over the Jinja side, edging a hard fought 2–1 victory at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe.

The opening stages were cautious. Both teams built from the back, careful not to overcommit, and the game took time to find its rhythm. For long stretches, it felt more measured than menacing.

Lugazi provided the first real threat in the 15th minute. Freedom Mungudit sliced through the BUL defence, saw his initial effort blocked, then watched as David Bagoole blazed the rebound over the bar. It was a warning BUL failed to heed.

Ten minutes later, Lugazi struck. Mungudit rose unchallenged in the box to head home from close range, igniting the home crowd and giving Lugazi a lead their growing confidence deserved.

BUL showed more intent after the break. Abdul Karim Ndugwa’s equaliser briefly lifted the tempo and suggested Isabirye’s men might seize control. For a moment, the momentum seemed to swing.

Lugazi, however, stayed brave. Mungudit thundered a shot off the woodwork, and although Paul Busolo dragged the rebound wide, the hosts kept pressing.

Their persistence paid off six minutes from time when Busolo made amends, calmly finishing to restore Lugazi’s lead.

BUL had no reply. What began with promise never fully turned into authority, and Lugazi held on to seal a long-awaited victory.

The win moves Lugazi up to 11th with 14 points, while BUL drop to ninth on 16 points after 14 matches, a sobering first defeat since Isabirye’s return.

BUL next visit UPDF FC at Bombo Military Ground, while Lugazi travel to FUFA Kadiba Stadium to face SC Villa.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, NEC FC beat Buhimba United Saints 1–0 in Hoima, Calvary and URA shared the spoils in Midigo, Entebbe UPPC were held goalless by Maroons in Bugonga, and KCCA FC produced a statement 4–0 win over UPDF at Lugogo.
