- Calvary FC 2-0 Buhimba United Saints
Calvary halted Buhimba United Saints’ hopes of climbing out of the relegation zone with a hard-fought 2-0 win, one that finally brought relief after a long, difficult start to life in the Uganda Premier League.
Promoted just last season, the Yumbe-based side have struggled to find their feet, going months without a win and sitting rooted at the bottom of the table.
But on Saturday at Midigo Primary School Playground, they delivered when it mattered most.
Lawrence Olaboro was the difference, the striker opened the scoring just seven minutes in, calmly converting a penalty after Simon Peter Odeke was fouled in the box.
With confidence growing, Calvary pushed forward and were rewarded again three minutes before halftime when Olaboro doubled the lead with a composed finish.
Buhimba came back stronger after the break, pressing for a goal to get back into the game. But Calvary stayed organized and held firm, showing a level of discipline that has often been missing this season.
At full time, the relief was clear. It was their first win of the campaign and a reminder that their fight is not over.
Calvary remain bottom with eight points, but the result could spark a turnaround. For Buhimba, still second from bottom on 15 points, it was a missed chance to move further away from danger.
Later this evening, SC Villa will host KCCA FC at the FUFA Stadium- Kadiba at 8 pm.
