2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- NEC 1-0 Calvary
- UPDF 0-1 SC Villa
- Maroons 3-0 Lugazi
NEC edged past struggling Calvary with a tight 1–0 win on Tuesday at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, a result that pushed them to ninth on the Uganda Premier League table despite another blunt attacking display.
Calvary, winless in seven games and still without a head coach, arrived as underdogs but showed real fight.
They frustrated NEC for long spells and nearly silenced the home crowd in the 35th minute when Ronald Olado miscued a clear chance.
NEC suffered a setback early on when midfielder Siraje Sentamu was stretchered off after a head collision, bringing on Shamir Kimwero.
Just before halftime, Mustapha Kizza almost put NEC ahead, but his curling freekick crashed off the crossbar.
Calvary returned stronger after the break and should have taken the lead, with Olado again firing over after beating the NEC backline.
NEC had a golden chance of their own when Eric Otingcwinyu handled in the box, but goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru kept Calvary alive, saving Innocent Media’s penalty.
The deadlock finally broke in the 72nd minute when Charles Waibi calmly finished from Media’s pass to give NEC the lead.
NEC held on to claim all three points, moving to nine from seven matches.
Calvary, bottom with just one point, will regret their missed chances, their brave fight simply wasn’t enough.
Elsewhere in the League, SC Villa edged past UPDF 1-0 in the Bombo Military Barracks thanks to a Ibrahim Kasinde late strike.
