Uganda Premier League
- Calvary 2-4 Entebbe UPPC
Entebbe UPPC FC’s fine start to life in the Uganda Premier League rolled on with a convincing 4–2 win over Calvary FC in Yumbe on Friday, ruining the hosts’ long-awaited home debut.
Calvary were playing their first ever topflight match at the Midigo Primary School Playground and had hoped to mark the occasion with victory before their fans.
Instead, it was fellow newcomers Entebbe who stole the show with a calm, clinical performance.
Both sides battled evenly in the first half until Samuel Junior Kawawa broke the deadlock in the 37th minute after a slick team move.
The second half brought chaos and goals in equal measure as heavy rain drenched the pitch.
Hassan Ssenyonjo doubled Entebbe’s lead just five minutes after the restart, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.
Calvary briefly fought back through John Rogers, who pulled one back two minutes later.
But Entebbe quickly shut the door. Ambrose Kigozi restored their two-goal cushion, and Muhammad Kyeyune made it 4–1 to seal the contest.
Calvary’s Lawrence Olaboro converted a late penalty for 4–2, but the damage was already done.
The defeat leaves Calvary winless at the bottom with just one point from five games, while Entebbe UPPC climb to fourth on 10 points, a dream start for the league newcomers.
