2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Friday December 12
- Kitara FC 2-0 Maroons FC
Kitara FC reignited their Uganda Premier League title hopes with a composed 2–0 win over Maroons FC on Friday at Royals Park in Butema, Hoima.
The victory lifted them to third place on 19 points, just one behind joint leaders KCCA and SC Villa pulling them right back into the race after nine games.
Patrick Kaddu was the star of the afternoon, striking twice in the first half to give Kitara full control.
He opened the scoring inside the first minute, rising to head in Edward Tala’s pinpoint cross and sending the home crowd into early celebration.
Kitara kept the tempo high, spreading play well and forcing Maroons to spend long stretches chasing the ball.
Even when the visitors looked dangerous on set pieces, the hosts handled the pressure with maturity.
Kaddu doubled the lead in the 34th minute after a slick combination with Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye, who slipped him through with a clever pass.
Kaddu finished calmly past the goalkeeper, later shaking off a minor injury scare to continue an outstanding performance that earned him Man of the Match.
Maroons returned stronger after the break, bringing on fresh legs and pushing forward with more urgency.
Goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige was alert, making key saves as the visitors searched for a way back.
Kitara stayed organised, clearing danger quickly and breaking up Maroons’ rhythm whenever they built momentum.
Late on, Kibirige and Jimmy Kalema produced vital interventions to preserve the clean sheet as Maroons mounted a final push.
By full time, Kitara’s sharp finishing and solid defending had reshaped the title picture. Maroons, spirited but blunt in attack, remain eighth on 12 points after 10 matches.
