UPL: Kaddu says goodbye in style as Express FC humbles Mbarara City

Express FC comfortably defeats Mbarara City 4-1 to secure their second win of the season in a  match was played at Express FC’s home ground, Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, on Wednesday, November 5. 

Pacy winger Abdul Rashid Kawawa opened the scoring in the 13th minute.

Henry Wamala weaved the goal-scoring plot. Kawawa then Peter Onzima fired in a cross which was cleared by defender Ambrose Arinda, but the ball fell to Kawawa’s foot, who struck first into the back of the net.

After the goal, Mbarara City looked even worse, and Express FC got a chance to score the second goal, scored by Richard Basangwa, who got a free header from Onzima’s cross. Kawawa was also involved in the goal.

After the second goal that came in the 27th minute, both teams made no difference until the break, with the hosts Express FC leading 2-0.

Just after the kickoff of the second half, Express FC got their third goal, and it also came from the slyness of Kawawa, Onzima, Basangwa, and Wamala before Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa netted Express FC’s third.

Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa then scored his second goal from Onzima’s break through to put Express FC 4-0 up with 67 minutes played.

Mbarara City coach Simon Peter Mugerwa and Express FC coach Badru Kaddu who coached his last game as Express FC head Coach to join NEC FC made several changes which have resulted in Mbarara City getting a boost through Mike Waraga and Muhammad Kamoga.

Their intelligence helped Ian Amanya to get the chance to set up Gabriel Souza Eragu, who caught Express FC goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi stranded and scored the only goal of the match for Mbarara City.

The victory moved Express FC to sixth place with eight points from six games, while sinking Mbarara City in the relegation zone with 2 points from 6 games.

After the match, the league will continue on Thursday, November 6th. UPDF FC will host Police FC in Bombo at 4:00 PM, while SC Villa will host Kitara FC at FIFA Stadium Kadiba in Mengo at 8:00 PM.

Express FC will return to action when they visit Lugazi FC in Najjembe on November 20th, while Mbarara City will travel to Buhimba Saints on the 21st.
