2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 14 | Wednesday January 28
- Kitara FC 1-0 Express FC
Patrick Kaddu was the difference once again as Kitara FC edged Express FC 1–0 in a hard fought Uganda Premier League duel at Royals Park, Butema, on Wednesday evening.
It was not an evening for flashy football but for determination and patience, and Kaddu’s sharp instincts in the box provided the decisive moment, extending Kitara’s strong home form.
Express arrived with a thin squad of just 14 players but showed no fear early on. The Red Eagles stood firm in a physical first half, matching the hosts and forcing a goalless stalemate at the break.
The dry, uneven pitch made smooth play difficult, turning the contest into a battle for second balls and stamina rather than rhythm.
The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Gadafi Wahab broke down the flank and picked out Kaddu inside the area.
The striker reacted quickest, finishing from close range to spark celebrations among the home fans.
Kitara pressed on in search of a second goal, with John Byaruhanga squandering a clear chance in the 65th minute after a well-worked move.
Express kept pushing despite tiring legs and limited options, but they lacked the sharpness needed to find an equaliser.
The win lifts Kitara to sixth place on 26 points from 13 matches, underlining their growing consistency at Royals Park.
Express stay 10th with 15 points from 14 games after a spirited but unrewarded display.
Kitara next travel north to face Calvary FC in Midigo on January 31, while Express visit NEC FC at Lugogo in search of a response.
