2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- Mbarara City 1-1 Entebbe UPPC
Mbarara City and Entebbe UPPC played out a hard-fought 1–1 draw on Wednesday at Rwamwanja Stadium, a match driven by tension, urgency, and two forwards who continue to shine this season.
Mbarara City, fighting to escape the relegation zone, started with purpose, pressing aggressively, contesting every challenge, and disrupting UPPC’s usually smooth passing game.
UPPC stayed patient, probing for openings while the hosts relied on sheer work rate to keep them at bay.
The breakthrough finally came in the 73rd minute. Muhammed Kanyike, Mbarara’s liveliest player, reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and slammed in the opener, sending the home crowd into relief and excitement.
But the lead didn’t last long. Six minutes later, Ambrose Kigozi, UPPC’s man in form, finished off a flowing move started by Hassan Senyonjo, who cut open Mbarara’s defense with a well-weighted pass. Kigozi’s neat finish pulled the visitors level and shifted the momentum.
UPPC pushed hard in the final minutes, forcing Mbarara onto the back foot. Still, the Ankole Lions held firm, showing grit and discipline to protect the point.
The draw keeps UPPC fifth on 14 points, within reach of the leading pack. Mbarara City remain 15th with six points from nine matches, still deep in their survival fight.
Elsewhere Police FC put four past Buhimba United Saints to come back to winning ways in Kiira at the Police Arena.
