Uganda Premier League | Matchday 19
- KCCA 5-0 Mbale Heroes
- Mbarara City 0-0 Bright Stars
After a difficult start to the year, KCCA FC finally found their rhythm, announcing their resurgence with a commanding 5-0 victory over Mbale Heroes at the Philip Omondi Stadium on Saturday night.
It was a statement win, one that not only secured their first triumph of 2025 but also reignited hope among their faithful supporters.

From the opening whistle, Abdallah Mubiru’s men looked like a team on a mission, pressing high, moving the ball with confidence, and carving out chances at will.
Their intent was clear, and before Mbale Heroes could settle, they were already trailing by three goals.
Usama Arafat set the tone in the 21st minute, curling home a brilliant strike from outside the box after a neat pass from Saidi Mayanja.
Just five minutes later, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza danced past defenders inside the box before slotting home the second.
KCCA’s relentless attacking display continued, and at the stroke of halftime, Sadat Anaku tapped in from Kwikiriza’s inviting cross to all but seal the contest before the break.
Even in the second half, KCCA remained in full control. Anaku had opportunities to add to his tally but squandered a couple of chances, including a one-on-one with the keeper before he was substituted.
His replacement, Yain Gatbel, wasted no time making an impact, racing through the middle in the 72nd minute to finish calmly past Simon Mabuya, the Mbale Heroes goalkeeper.
Sharif Ssengendo then put the icing on the cake with a late strike, sealing a five-star performance from the Lugogo-based side.
This emphatic win is more than just three points for KCCA, it marks a rebirth, a declaration that they are back in business.
With confidence restored and their attacking firepower rediscovered, Mubiru’s men will be looking to build on this performance as they push forward when they face UPDF in Bombo on Thursday, March 13.
Elsewhere Mbarara City secured a point at home with a goalless draw against Relagation placed side Bright Stars.
