2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 18 Fixtures | Monday March 2,

  • Buhimba United Saints Vs KCCA – Royal Park, Butema 4pm
  • Calvary Vs SC Villa – Midigo Primary School, Yumbe 4pm

The second round of the Uganda Premier League returns Monday with KCCA and SC Villa facing fixtures that could shape the title race.

KCCA seek response in Butema

KCCA travel to Royal Park in Butema to face Buhimba United Saints knowing there is little room for error. Victory would cut leaders Vipers SC’s advantage from five points to two.

The 13-time champions arrive with renewed confidence after back to back Uganda Cup wins over BUL and Mbarara City, ending a frustrating three match winless run.

But they remember how difficult the first meeting was, edging Buhimba 1-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

Co-head coach Jackson Nelly Magera expects another tight contest.

“In the reverse fixture we struggled to break them down and we don’t expect it to be easier,” he said.

“The first 10 to 15 minutes will guide us, but we are going there to win with a good performance.”

Buhimba sit 14th on 15 points, just three above the relegation line, and are fighting for survival.

Head coach Robert Mukasa will miss the match after a red card, while new signings Musa Ssali and Bageya could feature.

KCCA may also hand a debut to striker Muserero as they chase maximum points.

Anything less than victory would slow their title push.

Villa battle fatigue in Yumbe

SC Villa face a different test, distance and tired legs. The record champions travel more than 500 kilometres to Midigo in Yumbe to face bottom side Calvary, days after a draining Uganda Cup tie against BUL that ended 2-2 before Villa advanced on penalties at Kadiba.

Head coach Zeljko Kovacevic admits fatigue is a concern but insists the target is clear.

“It will be a very difficult game. The journey is long and after that match against BUL you imagine fatigue,” he said.

“However, we are to win and try to close the gap because we want to go on top of the table.”

Fourth on 34 points, Villa can move to second, one point behind Vipers with victory. They will be without suspended midfielder Najib Yiga, while left back Simon Ssemayange remains doubtful.

Calvary are still searching for their first topflight win but have proved stubborn at home, taking points off Vipers and Express.

Villa needed an early Aslam Ssemakula goal to win the first meeting 1-0, a reminder that even against the bottom side, nothing comes easy.
