  • UPDF FC 0-1 Entebbe UPPC

Ambrose Kigozi once again proved decisive for Entebbe UPPC, scoring the only goal as his side edged UPDF FC 1-0 in a tightly contested Uganda Premier League match at the Bombo Military Grounds.

Fresh from his winner against URA, Kigozi struck deep into first-half added time to settle a game played under punishing heat taking his goal tally to 7 goals in his last 8 games.

UPDF had started brightly and should have taken an early lead, but Samuel Ssekamatte missed from close range inside the opening minute.

Jonathan Gift later tested goalkeeper Kamya Shamulan, yet the hosts failed to make their pressure count.

UPPC grew into the contest and created chances through Marvin Mukiibi and Hassan Ssenyonjo, while UPDF continued to threaten, only to be denied by alert goalkeeping.

Just before the break, Kigozi found space and finished calmly in the 45+2 minute to give the visitors the lead.

UPDF pushed hard after the restart and came closest when Ssekamatte struck the crossbar.

Despite introducing fresh legs, the hosts could not break down a disciplined UPPC defence led by Mustafa Mujuzi.

The visitors managed the closing stages well and saw out five minutes of added time without alarm.

The win lifts Entebbe UPPC to fourth place on 26 points, while UPDF FC remain 13th with 11 points.

UPPC next host Maroons at Bugonga on January 27, with UPDF facing KCCA FC away on the same day.

Elsewhere, Police FC beat Calvary 2-0 through goals from Brian James Obedi and Umar Kasumba, while KCCA FC and Maroons shared a goalless draw.
