2026/26 Uganda Premier League

  • NEC 1-1 BUL
  • Lugazi 5-2 Buhimba United

Jerome Kirya struck on the stroke of halftime to deny Badru Kaddu a winning start as NEC head coach, earning BUL a 1-1 draw in a tense Uganda Premier League clash at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Joseph Dhata had earlier given NEC the lead in the 27th minute with a composed finish, raising hopes of a perfect debut for Kaddu.

But Kirya’s equalizer just before halftime kept BUL’s unbeaten run in 2025 intact.

The result stretched BUL’s league streak to 23 matches without defeat and 25 in all competitions since their 2-0 loss to UPDF on December 4, 2024.

The draw lifts BUL to fourth on 10 points, level with SC Villa and Entebbe UPPC but behind on goal difference.

NEC remain 12th with six points from five games, managing just one win so far.

Earlier, Lugazi FC bounced back to form with a commanding 5-2 victory over Buhimba United Saints.

Goals from David Bagoole, Abdul Kalanzi, Dawson Mafumu, and a brace from Freedom Mungudit sealed a dominant performance, overshadowing efforts from Sadick Moro and an own goal by Richard Ayiko.

The defeat was Buhimba United Saints’ third in a row, having conceded 11 goals in that stretch, a stark contrast to their bright start when they won their first three matches.

The Bunyoro-based side drop to sixth with nine points, while Lugazi climb to ninth with eight.
