Express FC pulls its first win under Jimmy Kintu, beating his former bosses Calvary FC 4-0 in a rescheduled game at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Thursday December 4.
Richard Basangwa opened the score in the 24th minute off Peter Onzima’s assist when he carried the ball for long yards, running into the box and beating Goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru to set up the goal.
Express FC led 1-0 at halftime and returned for the second half, where Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa scored from a penalty when Julius Ocen blocked John Asiimwe’s effort with his hand in the 48th minute.
Seven minutes later, Kagawa extended the lead to 3-0 with his second of the day and his sixth of the season after smashing Onzima’s cutback before substitute Habert Asiimwe sealed the scoreline for his second of the season.
At 3-0, Calvary got close to pulling a goal back from Haron Odong’s free kick that struck the crossbar before the ball was cleared by Ashiraf Mbaziira, while Express FC also had Elvis Ssakajugo’s goal ruled out for an offside offense.
With the win, Express FC made it 3 wins in 9 games, tallying 12 points in the 7th position, as Calvary FC continues their winless streak to 8 games as they sank to the bottom with just one point.
Calvary will return to action to play their game in hand at home against Vipers SC in Midigo on December 9, meanwhile, for their next outing, Express FC will take a trip to Entebbe to face Entebbe UPPC at Bugonga Fisheries ground.
Later on, matchday nine will continue under the lights as URA FC awaits to host Kitara FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, at 8:00 pm.
