Under the glare of Nakivubo Stadium’s floodlights, it was a night of heartbreak for KCCA FC and heroics for URA FC’s rising star, John Innocent Kisolo.

In a game that hung in the balance for long stretches, it was Kisolo’s moment of brilliance that finally broke the deadlock and handed KCCA their third straight loss in the league.

The game, played on Wednesday night, saw both teams start with intent, sharing possession and chances in an evenly contested first half.

URA’s James Begisa saw two powerful efforts parried away by a lively Mutwalib Mugolofa, while Joseph Semujju came close but was denied by a deflection.

On the other side, KCCA’s Derrick Nsibambi squandered two golden opportunities, including a miss inside the box after a teasing delivery from Shafic Kwikiriza.

But the second half belonged to URA not because they dominated but because they made their moment count.

Coach Alex Isabirye’s tactical shuffle in the 65th minute, introducing Kisolo for Norman Namanya, turned out to be a masterstroke.

The young midfielder’s energy brought new life to URA’s attack and with just 12 minutes left on the clock, the breakthrough came.

Laban Tibita picked out Kisolo with a clever pass into the box. With composure beyond his years, Kisolo rifled the ball past Mugolofa to score the decisive goal of the match. The stadium erupted and URA had their fourth win in a row sealed.

KCCA, desperate to salvage a point, pushed forward but were constantly repelled by a disciplined and well-drilled URA defence.

The final whistle confirmed what Jackson Magera feared: another loss in only his second game as interim coach.

With this win, URA moved up to 42 points, maintaining fourth place in the league standings and strengthening their push for a strong finish.

KCCA, meanwhile, remain stuck at 36 points and now sit in seventh place far from the title chasing form their fans had hoped for.

Elsewhere, BUL drew goalless with Police in Njeru whereas SC Villa secured a historic 2-0 win over Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium with two goals from Aslam Ssemakula and another through own goal by Martin Owalamu.

For Express FC, they held firm to claim a 1-0 away victory over bottom-placed Mbale Heroes through Muhammed Kagawa Ssenoga while a Samuel Ssekamate brace propelled UPDF FC to a comeback to defeat Maroons FC 2-1 after Rogers Kiwanuka had put the visitors ahead.

Uganda Premier League Match day 24 action continues tomorrow on Thursday, April 17 when Vipers welcome NEC in a top-of-the-table clash.
