  • Kitara 0-0 Lugazi
  • Bright Stars 0-0 Wakiso Giants

At the heart of Royals Park in Butema, Kitara FC came into their Uganda Premier League clash with Lugazi FC eager to bounce back from a tough 2-1 defeat to NEC.

The stage was set for redemption. The home fans were expectant. The players, focused. But after 90 grueling minutes under the sun, all Kitara could walk away with was frustration and a solitary point.

Despite dominating possession and controlling much of the game’s tempo, Kitara could not find a way past a disciplined and determined Lugazi defense that had clearly done its homework.

The attacking trio of Patrick Kaddu, Jude Ssemugabi and George Ssenkaaba showed glimpses of brilliance, particularly in the second half when the pressure mounted.

There were chances, clever through balls, whipped crosses and headers that came close but none could breach the wall that was Juma Mutebi, Lugazi’s goalkeeper who stood tall and alert throughout the game, pulling off crucial saves that kept the scoreline locked at 0-0.

For Lugazi, it was more than just a point. Coming into the game without a win since March and haunted by their recent 2-2 collapse against UPDF, the visitors showed improved defensive organization, composure, and a resilience that had been missing in recent weeks. It was a performance born out of grit and hard lessons.

Kitara, on the other hand looked the more aggressive side but lacked the clinical edge in the final third. Every wave of attack met resistance. Every shot came with a block or a catch. The final whistle was a loud sigh of missed opportunity.

The draw leaves Kitara fifth on the table with 36 points, still within reach of the top, but in need of sharper execution if their ambitions are to be realized.

Lugazi, meanwhile, climbed to 11th with 28 points, their defensive resolve earning them a much-needed boost in confidence and standings.

Elsewhere, Bright Stars once again drew 0-0 with Wakiso Giants in Kavumba.
