  • Entebbe UPPC 1-0 Kitara

Entebbe UPPC headed into the Uganda Premier League break on a high, outplaying Kitara FC to earn a deserved 1-0 win at the Bugonga Grounds on Thursday evening.

From the start, UPPC played with calm authority, moving the ball neatly and forcing Kitara to chase.

The opening minutes were goalless but lively, and UPPC gave an early warning in the 13th minute when Muhammad Kyeyune slipped Ambrose Kigozi through with a clever outside of the boot pass, only for the flicked effort to drift wide.

As the game settled, UPPC’s control became clearer. Their reward came in the 34th minute after a flowing move involving Hassan Ssenyonjo and Isa Mubiru.

Mubiru’s perfectly weighted pass found John Kokas Alou arriving on cue, and his composed finish left goalkeeper Kibiriige stranded.

Kitara struggled to find their rhythm and grew increasingly frustrated, a mood summed up by Benjamin Nyakoojo’s reckless challenge late in the half. UPPC went into the break with a narrow but deserved lead.

The second half was more physical as Kitara searched for a response, but UPPC stayed organised and dangerous on the counter.

Just after the hour, Steven Munguchi beat three defenders before setting up Ssenyonjo, whose shot flew wide.

Kitara’s best chance arrived late when they were awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute, but Emmanuel Alex Wasswa blazed his effort wide, letting UPPC off the hook.

An injury to Mustapha Mujuzi briefly slowed the game, yet UPPC managed the closing stages with maturity to see out the win.

Kokas’ first-half strike made the difference, while Isa Mubiru was named Man of the Match for his control in midfield and decisive assist.

The result lifts UPPC to fifth on 20 points from 11 matches, one place and one point above Kitara.

With the league now pausing for the Africa Cup of Nations, UPPC step into the break with confidence and momentum firmly on their side.
