Uganda Premier League | Saturday Results – Matchday 22

  • Kitara 4-0 KCCA
  • Mbale 0-1 Wakiso Giants
  • Maroons 1-0 Express

Saturday in the Uganda Premier League was a day of reckoning, revival and resilience, headlined by Kitara FCโ€™s stunning demolition of KCCA FC at the Royal Park in Hoima.

  • Kitara humble KCCA in style

In what was billed as a grudge match following strong pre-match comments by KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru, who previously dismissed Kitara as a โ€œsmall team,โ€ the Royals responded emphatically, handing KCCA a humbling 4-0 thrashing.

This dominant performance not only avenged their 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture but also highlighted Kitara’s growing stature.

Former KCCA striker Patrick Kaddu spearheaded the rout, scoring the opener in the 22nd minute before turning provider for two more.

Jude Ssemugabi, David Ndihabwe, and Living Kabon all found the net in a game where Kitara dictated proceedings from start to finish.

Kadduโ€™s standout performance, which included three assists, and Titus Ssematimbaโ€™s creative spark were key to the victory.

The win saw Kitara leapfrog KCCA into fifth place on the log with 35 points, one clear of their Kampala rivals.

  • Wakiso Giants snap 18-game win drought

In Mbale, Wakiso Giants finally breathed life into their survival hopes with a gritty 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Mbale Heroes.

The win, their first since September 2024, came courtesy of a goal from defender Timothy Oyamo.

The result ended a painful 18-game winless run and offered a glimmer of hope for the Purple Sharks, who now sit 14th on 17 points, just six adrift of safety with eight matches remaining. Mbale Heroes remain firmly rooted at the bottom with only 10 points to their name.

  • Maroons edge troubled Express in dramatic finish

Elsewhere in Luzira, Express FC managed to field a team despite a tumultuous week marked by unpaid wages and a player training boycott.

However, their brave fight against Maroons FC ended in heartbreak when Boris Onegi netted a stoppage-time winner in the 95th minute.

The narrow win pushed Maroons to seventh place with 33 points, pulling further away from Express, who remain in ninth on 28 points and continue to battle both on and off the pitch.
