Maroons and NEC battled to a 1–1 draw in a gritty Uganda Premier League encounter at the Luzira Prisons Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams showed intent from the start, trading attacks and matching each other for energy.
Defenders on either side stood firm, keeping the first half goalless despite the end to end flow.
Maroons broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when Ivan Asaba calmly finished a neat move after being picked out by the lively Mujahid Ogama, sending the home fans into celebration.
But NEC replied almost instantly. Just two minutes later, Marvin Kavuma steered in Joseph Dhata’s precise cross to level matters and quiet the Luzira cheers.
The final minutes saw both teams push for a winner, but neither could find the edge.
NEC stay ninth on 10 points from eight games, while Maroons sit 10th with nine points from the same number of matches.
NEC now turn their attention to a tougher assignment as they host reigning champions Vipers on Friday, December 5 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
