  • Buhimba United Saints FC 0-1 BUL FC

Karim Ndugwa scored late to give BUL FC a hard earned 1–0 victory over Buhimba United Saints in an Uganda Premier League match at Royal Park, Butema on Tuesday evening.

For long spells, the match looked destined for a draw as both teams struggled to convert their chances.

BUL threatened early when Jerome Kiirya stepped up for a free kick near the penalty area in the 15th minute, but Buhimba held firm. Shortly after, Ndugwa missed a chance as light drizzle fell over the ground.

Buhimba also had opportunities. Moro failed to convert a clear chance in the 30th minute, while BUL’s Ibrahim Orit later came close at the other end.

Derrick Byabachwezi tested BUL goalkeeper Tom Ikara with a free kick, but the keeper produced a safe stop. The first half ended goalless.

After the break, Buhimba pushed forward and won a corner in the 55th minute, but neither side could find a breakthrough. Musa Ssali also needed treatment after a knock during the physical exchanges.

BUL made three changes in the 72nd minute, introducing Mpasa, Ssewagude and Kambugu for Kalyowa, Orit and Kiirya as they searched for a winner.

Tempers rose late in the game. Buhimba coach Ramadhan Kato was cautioned in the 80th minute, while BUL’s Hillary Onek and Buhimba’s Derrick Byabachwezi also received yellow cards.

Just when the match seemed headed for a draw, BUL struck. In the 89th minute, Richard Okello set up Ndugwa, who finished calmly to seal the win for the visitors. Ndugwa was later named Man of the Match.

The victory moves BUL to eighth place with 29 points, four ahead of Maroons FC in ninth. Buhimba United Saints remain 14th with 15 points.

BUL will host Mbarara City on Friday, March 13, while Buhimba face Kitara at Hoima City Stadium on the same day.

Elsewhere, Ivan Asaba scored as Maroons beat Calvary 1–0 in Yumbe, while Police defeated SC Villa 1–0 in Kamwokya through Lawrence Tezikya.
