NEC FC extended their unbeaten run to ten matches after a goalless draw with league debutants Entebbe UPPC at the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

UPPC started brightly and controlled much of the first half, pushing NEC onto the back foot. Sadik Nasur, Laban Tibita and Abraham Tusubiira combined well in attack, creating early pressure that forced NEC goalkeeper Ssebwalunyo into several saves.

NEC struggled to build momentum in the opening stages, with their attacks often cut out by a disciplined UPPC backline.

Hakim Wandera was booked early, while chances for Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte and Isa Bugembe failed to trouble the visitors.

UPPC nearly broke the deadlock midway through the half when Jonathan Odongo delivered a good cross, but Ambrose Kigozi headed over the bar.

The visitors’ rhythm was briefly interrupted in the 40th minute when Eric Ssenjobe went off injured and was replaced by Isa Mubiru.

NEC looked sharper after the break following the introduction of Allan Mugalu for Pius Obuya. Mugalu brought energy to the attack and registered several attempts, but none found the target.

As the match opened up in the second half, both teams searched for a breakthrough. Tibita went close for UPPC, while NEC began to push forward with more urgency.

UPPC thought they had found the winner in the 70th minute when substitute Muhammed Kyeyune put the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

NEC responded with late pressure, introducing Marvin Kavuma and Ronald Media Innocent to boost their attack. Kavuma came closest, forcing a save as the hosts pushed for a late winner.

In the end, neither side could find the breakthrough.

The result leaves UPPC fifth on the table with 36 points from 20 matches, while NEC sit seventh with 31 points and extend their unbeaten run to ten games.

Next, NEC visit Police FC at the Kiira Police Arena on Friday, March 13, while UPPC host SC Villa in Entebbe the following day.

Elsewhere, Ivan Asaba’s goal earned Maroons a 1–0 victory over Calvary in Yumbe. Police edged SC Villa 1–0 in Kamwokya through Lawrence Tezikya, Karim Ndugwa struck late to give BUL FC a narrow win over Buhimba United Saints in Butema, while Edson Agondeze’s lone goal guided Kitara FC past Mbarara City in Kamwenge.

Uganda Premier League action continues on Wednesday with UPDF hosting Vipers at the Military Barracks Ground in Bombo, URA taking on Lugazi at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo, and KCCA facing Express at the Phillip Omondi Stadium.
