2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- NEC 1-1 Vipers
NEC earned a hard-fought 1–1 draw against league leaders Vipers SC in a lively Uganda Premier League match on Friday at Phillip Omondi Stadium.
The hosts nearly took the lead inside two minutes when Innocent Media forced a sharp save from Vipers goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza.
NEC’s early pressure paid off in the 20th minute when Livingstone Mulondo brought down Media in the box.
Mustapha Kizza calmly converted the penalty, sending Mudekereza the wrong way to put NEC ahead.
Media continued to trouble Vipers’ defence, beating his marker again in the 35th minute, but Mudekereza denied him once more.
Vipers made an early change just before halftime, replacing midfielder Taddeo Lwanga with Milton Karisa.
The substitution proved decisive. Five minutes after the restart, Karisa fired a powerful shot to level the score, sparking celebrations from the visiting fans.
Vipers pressed for a winner in the final minutes, but NEC’s defence stood firm, holding on for a valuable point at home.
The draw keeps Vipers atop the table with 17 points from seven games, while NEC remain eighth with 11 points from nine matches.
