- Calvary FC 0-1 BUL FC
- Kitara FC 2-1 UPDF FC
- NEC FC 1-0 Lugazi FC
NEC FC claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Lugazi FC at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Wednesday night, thanks to Innocent Media’s 62nd-minute strike.
The result gave NEC their third win of the season, while Lugazi slipped to their sixth defeat despite new coach Simon Mugerwa at the helm.
The first half was cagey. Derrick Mwanje’s early effort for Lugazi went wide, while NEC threatened through Ibrahim Musa, whose header was cleared off the line.
NEC keeper Benjamin Ochan kept his side in the game, punching away Ashraf Mulindi’s free kick, and the teams went into the break scoreless.
The hosts made two changes at halftime, introducing Marvin Kavuma and Muzamir Mutyaba. Lugazi replaced Freedom Mungudit with Paul Busolo.
The breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when Joseph Seremba set up Media, who calmly finished to give NEC the lead.
Lugazi threw on Moses Buga and Birungi Alvin in search of an equalizer, but NEC held firm.
Tension rose late as Marvin Kavuma went off on a stretcher after a challenge from Rogers Atube, replaced by Sharif Kimwero.
Lugazi also introduced Edrine Owachigui, but NEC’s defense, led by goalkeeper Ochan, kept the clean sheet.
The win lifts NEC to 15 points and 8th place, dropping BUL FC to 9th. Lugazi remain 14th on 10 points. NEC hosts Kitara FC on January 22, while Lugazi visit Mbarara City.
Elsewhere, BUL FC ended a winless run with a 1-0 away win over Calvary FC, and Kitara FC edged UPDF 2-1 at Royals’ Park.
