2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 19 | Saturday March 7,
- SC Villa 0-0 Express FC
Following his man of the match performance in the last game, where his new side Express FC drew 1-1 with Maroons FC, midfielder Marvin Nyanzi continued to shine while his Express FC played a goalless draw against their arch rivals SC Villa at FUFA Stadium Kadiba on Saturday, March 7.

Nyanzi played in the double pivot alongside Yosia Kisa, but Nyanzi delivered the most eye catching performance both in blocking and during the team’s transition into attack.
Though both sides lacked concentration upfront, Express FC, which came up with a twin striking pairing of Kenneth Kimera and Henry Wamala, failed to intimidate the SC Villa defense.
With the game proving difficult for Wamala, Nyanzi tried his best to involve each player in the game, though his most frequent pass exchanges continued to be with John Asiimwe and Elvis Ssekajugo, who came on as a substitute for Mikdad Ssenyonga earlier in the second half.

Despite this, SC Villa was mostly the better side as a team, though they faced a bigger challenge as Frank Ssebuufu proved to be the most wasteful player in the game, squandering up to four chances, missing thrice from the six-yard box.
Despite being wasteful, Hassan Mubiru notched from an offside position with 7 minutes remaining in the first half and forced the Express FC goalkeeper to pull off two flashy saves midway through the second half.
At the end, Express FC continued their league struggle, extending it to 5 games without a win, including a loss and four straight draws in their last five games.
SC Villa, after failing to convert most of the chances created in the game, has failed to score in 3 of its last 5 games since defeating Mbarara City 6-1.
After Matchday 19, with SC Villa having an abandoned game against Calvary Midigo, SC Villa is now fourth with 35 points, sitting 9 points behind leaders Vipers, while Express FC is 10th with 20 points in 19 matches.
After this match, SC Villa will return to action first as they visit Police FC at Kira Road Police ground on Tuesday, March 10th, a day before Express visits KCCA at Omondi Stadium Lugogo in another VEK Derby.
