2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 15 | Saturday January 31

  • URA FC 0-0 Police FC

Police FC’s fading title push took another blow on Saturday night as they were held to a frustrating 0–0 draw by URA FC at Stadium, Nakivubo.

Coming days after a heavy 4–1 loss to leaders Vipers, the result underlined a worrying lack of momentum for the Cops.

Determined to respond, Police started on the front foot and controlled much of the opening half. But once again, poor finishing let them down.

Ikamba wasted two clear chances before the break, while Lawrence Tezikya also failed to make the most of a golden opportunity as URA absorbed the pressure.

The first half was scrappy at times. Police defender Obedi required treatment twice, while URA’s George Masembe and Joseph Ssemujju were booked as the game grew physical.

Despite spending long spells defending, URA nearly snatched the lead before halftime, only for Police goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga to produce a fine save.

The pattern continued after the restart. Police pushed forward in search of a breakthrough, but URA stayed compact and disciplined.

Muwanga was again called upon shortly after the hour to keep the scores level.

Changes followed in the 67th minute, with Reagan Male and Denis Kalanzi replacing Tezikya and Sizwe Mario, but the substitutions failed to change the outcome.

As frustration grew, another missed chance by Ikamba summed up Police’s night. The final whistle confirmed a point apiece, URA recording their second straight goalless draw after a similar result away to Calvary FC.

Ryan Kizito’s assured display earned him Man of the Match, but the draw leaves Police fifth on the table with 28 points and drifting further from the title race. URA end the first round in 12th place on 13 points.

Elsewhere, NEC and Express also shared a goalless draw in Lugogo, while Maroons and Mbarara City played out a 1–1 stalemate.

Attention now turns to the late kickoff, where SC Villa host Lugazi FC at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
