- Police FC 1-0 SC Villa
Police FC defeated SC Villa 1–0 in a Uganda Premier League match at the Kiira Police Arena in Kamwokya on Tuesday evening.
Lawrence Tezikya scored the decisive goal just seven minutes after kick-off to give the hosts an early lead that proved enough to separate the two sides.
Villa tried to respond quickly. Jonah Kakande had their first attempt but shot wide, while Frank Ssebbufu later found the net only for the assistant referee to rule it out for offside.
The decision added to Villa’s frustrations, coming a day after FUFA referred assistant referee Immaculate Ongiera to the referees’ disciplinary panel for wrongly cancelling their goal against Express. Once again, the Jogoos saw a potential equaliser ruled out.
Villa continued to push forward. Kakande was booked midway through the half, and Matovu Farouk came closest when his header struck the crossbar.
Police also thought they had doubled the lead through Bedia Ikamba, but the effort was disallowed for a foul in the build-up.
Police went into the break still leading 1–0. Villa increased the pressure after the restart, introducing Missi Diego Semugera and Aslam Ssemakula in search of a goal. Kakande later headed over the bar as the visitors pressed for an equaliser.
Police made several changes, including withdrawing goalscorer Tezikya, as they focused on protecting their lead.
Villa dominated the closing stages, but the hosts held on despite late pressure and injury stoppages involving goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.
The win moves Police to 35 points from 20 matches, three behind fourth-placed Villa.
Before the Uganda Cup break, Police will host NEC FC on Friday, March 13, while Villa will travel to Entebbe to face UPPC the following day.
Elsewhere, Karim Ndugwa scored the only goal as BUL FC beat Buhimba United Saints 1–0 at Royal Park in Butema, while Maroons defeated bottom side Calvary FC 1–0 in Yumbe through Ivan Asaba’s strike.
