The first half saw both sides create promising chances but fail to capitalize. Express FC, desperate to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Lugazi FC, dominated possession early on.

However, their attack lacked the finishing touch needed to break down a well-drilled Police FC defence.

On the other end, Police FC, determined to end their seven-game winless streak on the road, remained composed and disciplined. They had their moments going forward but, just like their hosts, couldn’t make their opportunities count in the opening 45 minutes.

With the game finely poised at halftime, the second half saw both coaches turn to their benches in search of inspiration. It was Police FC’s substitute, Obedi Brian James, who made an instant impact.

Having replaced the injured Umaru Kasumba, Obedi injected fresh energy into the attack, and within four minutes of the restart, he broke the deadlock.

A well-worked move saw Obedi find space inside the box, and with a clinical finish, he slotted the ball past the Express FC goalkeeper to give the visitors a crucial lead.

Buoyed by the opener, Police FC grew in confidence. Express FC tried to respond but was left exposed at the back, and in the 69th minute, they paid the price.

Obedi, proving to be the game-changer, turned provider this time, setting up Reagan Male who doubled the visitors’ lead with a composed strike.

With a two-goal cushion, Police looked set for a comfortable victory. However, Express FC, backed by their passionate home fans, refused to go down without a fight.

As time ticked away, Express FC threw everything forward in search of a lifeline. Their persistence paid off in the 88th minute when Conrad Ssenjogera pounced on a loose ball inside the box and fired home to cut the deficit. The stadium erupted in hope as the Red Eagles sensed a dramatic comeback.

Police FC, however, held their nerve in the final moments, defending resolutely to secure their much-needed away win.

The victory saw Police FC climb to 12th place with 23 points, providing a morale boost as they look to steer clear of the relegation battle.

Express FC, on the other hand, remained in 7th place with 28 points, their inconsistency proving costly in their pursuit of a higher finish.

Meanwhile, Lugazi FC continued their impressive run with a 3-1 away victory over Mbale Heroes, while 10-man KCCA showed resilience to edge a determined UPDF side in Bombo.
