2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- Police 1-2 Kitara
Police FC let a huge opportunity slip through their fingers on Thursday evening, falling 2–1 to Kitara at the Police Arena in Kamwokya, Kiira in a match they largely controlled but failed to finish off.
Kitara, who spent long spells on the back foot, stole all three points with a dramatic late winner from Isaac Atuhairwe, a goal that lifted the Royals to fourth place on 13 points from seven games.
The visitors drew first blood in the 10th minute when Patrick Kaddu coolly tucked away a penalty, sending goalkeeper Edward Kasibante the wrong way.
They nearly doubled their lead moments before halftime, but Kasibante reacted sharply to stop Jimmy Kalema’s low effort in the 43rd minute.
Police returned from the break with purpose and finally got their reward in the 63rd minute.
Lawrence Tezikya rose to meet Daniel Jakony’s well weighted freekick, steering in a clean header that reignited the home crowd.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Kitara delivered the gut punch.
Deep into added time, Atuhairwe pounced in a congested box, guiding the ball home and stunning the arena into silence.
Police remain third with 14 points from eight matches, still firmly in the race, but left regretting a missed chance to hit the summit.
Kitara, meanwhile, continue their upward push to 4th on the Log with 13 points as their strong early season run gathers momentum.
