2025 Uganda Premier League | Wednesday December 17, | MD 11
- Lugazi Vs Vipers – Lugazi FC Stadium, Najjembe | 4 PM
Moses Buga spoke without fear. Calm, assured and quietly defiant, the Lugazi winger made it clear that Najjembe is no easy stop, not even for the reigning champions.
“On Wednesday we are playing Vipers. We have prepared well,” Buga said.
“It hasn’t been easy. We haven’t scored much in recent games, but since the Police match we’ve worked hard on finishing. I hope we are as competitive as possible.”

That belief will be put to the test when unbeaten champions Vipers SC arrive at Najjembe needing a win to keep pace with league leaders KCCA.
Fresh from a 3–1 victory over BUL, the Venoms are confident, but they travel without Uganda Cranes trio Allan Okello, Hilary Mukundane and Rogers Torach, all away in Morocco for AFCON duty.
In their absence, Vipers will rely on the experience of Bady Dasylva, the sharpness of Usama Arafat and the drive of Yunus Sentamu.

With two games in hand and five points separating them from KCCA, anything less than victory would dent their title chase.
Lugazi, however, are not rolling out the red carpet.
“Our last draw gave us confidence,” Buga said, recalling the 1–1 result away to Police.
“And there’s a reason it’s called Najjembe, not St Mary’s. I promise Vipers won’t take points from here.”
Sitting 13th with 10 points, Lugazi have endured a tough season, winning just twice. But victory before the break could lift them to seventh on 13 points, motivation enough for a side eager to change its story.
“For Lugazi, everyone is always ready, starting with the coaches,” Buga added.
“Now it’s on us players to give our best.”
There is also history at play. Last season’s meeting at Najjembe ended scoreless and proved costly for Vipers, marking the end of Nikola Kovačević’s brief spell as head coach. It is a reminder that this ground has a way of shaping outcomes.
