2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 16 | Fixture
- Maroons Vs Kitara – 4 PM | Luzira Prison Grounds
Uganda Premier League returns on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with an exciting Matchday 16 clash as Maroons FC host Kitara FC at Maroons Stadium in Luzira with kick-off at 4:00 PM.
This game marks the start of the second round of the season and comes at a very important time for both teams.
Kitara are pushing hard in the title race while Maroons are trying to climb up the table and recover from a difficult run of results.
Kitara go into the match in strong form and are currently fourth on the table with 29 points from 14 games, having won nine, drawn two, and lost three, with a healthy goal difference of +10.
They are just seven points behind leaders Vipers SC and know that every game now matters if they are to keep the pressure on the teams above them.
Maroons, on the other hand, are ninth with 18 points from 15 matches after four wins, six draws, and five losses.
They have not won any of their last four league games and have picked up only three points in that period, which makes this home match even more important for their confidence and league position.
Despite their poor recent form, Maroons can take comfort in their strong home record, as they have not lost a single league match at Luzira this season.
Their stadium has been a difficult place for visiting teams, and the home fans usually give them a big push. Kitara, however, will travel with confidence after beating Maroons 2–0 in the first round in Hoima in December 2025.
This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides, with Kitara having won three times, Maroons once, and one game ending in a draw.
Only eight goals have been scored across all those matches, showing how close these fixtures usually are.
One of the biggest talking points is the return of former Maroons striker Patrick Henry Kaddu, who is now Kitara’s main attacking threat.
Kaddu is in excellent form with seven league goals and is the second top scorer in the Uganda Premier League.
He knows Luzira very well and will be eager to score against his old club. Maroons will also be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Simon Tamale, midfielder Brian Nkuubi, and striker Raymond Walugembe, who have all completed their suspensions and are now available for selection.
However, they will miss defender Derrick Basoga and midfielder Jamal Ssemwogerere, who are both out injured, which may affect the team’s balance.
Both teams come into this match after positive results in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, with Kitara beating Obule Earthquake FC 1–0 and Maroons winning 2–1 against Paidha United FC to reach the Round of 32.
Even so, the full focus now shifts back to the league because the points on offer in this game could shape the direction of their seasons.
Kitara will aim to control the game with their passing and attacking movement, while Maroons are likely to stay compact, defend strongly, and use counter-attacks and set pieces to hurt their visitors.
