Mbarara City face a crucial test on Wednesday when they host Entebbe UPPC at Rwamanja Stadium in Kamwenge.
With only five points and just a single point earned at home, the Ankole Lions know they must deliver or sink deeper into the relegation battle.
Entebbe UPPC arrive in strong form. Rebranded from Gaddafi, Abdallah Mubiru’s side has become one of the league’s best travellers, unbeaten away and collecting seven of their 13 points on the road.
They’ve already beaten Calvary (4–2) and BUL (2–0), and held SC Villa at Kadiba. Their last visit to Mbarara ended in a 5–0 humiliation, but they had won the three meetings before that.
Ambrose Kigozi, fresh from a brace against BUL, leads UPPC’s attack alongside Julius Poloto, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Steven Munguchi and Isa Bugembe as they look to extend their fine away run.
Across the city, Police FC are also hunting redemption at Kiira Road as they host Buhimba United Saints.
A disappointing loss to Kitara left the 2005 champions under pressure to prove they can keep pace with early leaders.
Third on 14 points, a win would move them level with KCCA and SC Villa.
Buhimba United Saints are in trouble, winless and pointless in their last five matches, and leaking goals at an alarming rate with 20 conceded in that stretch.
Even so, a surprise victory could lift them from 13th up to seventh.
Police coach Matia Lule will look to Congolese striker Bedia Ikamba to spark the attack, while captain Said Kyeyune anchors the midfield and the backline seeks to avoid the mistakes that cost them against Kitara.
