2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 14 | Fixture | Tuesday January 27
- Vipers SC Vs Police FC – 8PM | St. Mary’s Stadium – Kitende
With two games remaining before the Uganda Premier League’s first round concludes, the current top two teams will clash under the floodlights of St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
In the clash slated for January 27, league leaders Vipers SC will play host to second-placed Police FC as they seek to extend their lead to 33 points from a possible 39.
Remaining the only unbeaten side in the league, they outclassed Uganda Revenue Authority with a commanding 3-0 victory, with AbdulKareem Watambala shining.
For Police FC on the road, their last game was also an easy catch as they trampled Calvary 2-0 to continue their surprising form in the 2023-2024 season.
Going into the fixture, both sides are expected to perform at a level reflecting their table standing. With the pool of players on both sides, the game shall give a real test of whether Vipers SC is good enough without Allan Okello, especially since they faced less of a challenge from URA FC.
Looking at both squads, in goalkeeping, both teams seem to be safe. In defense, Vipers SC is much more stable than Police FC, while in the midfield, though Vipers look stronger on paper, Police FC can rise to equal the challenge.
In striking, Police FC looks somewhat ahead of Vipers in terms of options, though Vipers SC is expected to be much more creative than Police FC.
Key players for Vipers SC, Watambala is expected to keep his consistency. Enock Ssebagala and Usama Arafat will be the players to watch going forward, while at the bottom, Hillary Mukundane seems to be the only threat for Vipers SC against the attacking force of Brian James Obedi, Bedia Djuma Ikamba, Denis Kalanzi if named, and many options.
With Police FC defense Daniel Jakony will be the most reliable player to stop the likes of Gusto Mulongo but also Rayan Kizito and Saidi Kyeyune will have to be very helpful to the defense in limiting the supply from the midfield and also c in making numbers in defense.
With the fixture looking able to go either way, Vipers SC and Police FC are totally different sides in the way they play, with totally different characters in players, and the sparks of the game will be on which side manages to transition the opponent from either playing style.
On the coaching staff, Vipers SC is ahead under Ivan Minneart, though Matia Lule may be living his best season in his coaching career.
