2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 16 | Fixture

  • Police FC Vs Lugazi FC – 4 PM | Police Arena, Kamwokya

Police FC return to action with one big question, can they finally beat Lugazi?

Lugazi head into the clash full of belief after unveiling forward Umar Kyebatala. They remain unbeaten against the Cops, with one win and four draws in previous meetings.

The fixture has an added twist. Lugazi are coached by Simon Peter Mugerwa, the man who guided Police back to the Premier League and stayed on until midway last season.

Now in the opposite dugout, Mugerwa knows his former side well and how to frustrate them.

For Police, this is more than a routine match. The 2005 champions started the season strongly but lost momentum after defeat to Vipers and a draw with URA.

They sit sixth on 28 points, eight behind the leaders, and need a win to stay in the title race.

Victory would also end their poor record against Lugazi.

Lugazi have different concerns. They are 12th with 15 points, four above the relegation zone, and fighting to stay clear of trouble.

A goalless draw with SC Villa last time out showed they can compete with established sides.

Kyebatala and Hamza Mulambuzi could make their mark as Lugazi look for more cutting edge in attack.

Defender Richard Ayiko will be key at the back against a Police frontline of Bedia Ikamba, Umar Kasumba and Charles Bbale.

It promises to be a tense contest, Police chasing ambition and redemption, Lugazi battling for survival but confident in this matchup.

Elsewhere on Thursday, Maroons host Kitara at the Luzira Prison Ground, while Mbarara City face Calvary at Rwamwanja Stadium a crucial relegation clash.
