  • KCCA FC 3-0 Express FC

Sammy Ssebaduka scored and assisted as KCCA FC beat rivals Express FC 3–0 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Wednesday evening to climb to third on the league table.

KCCA started brightly in the traditional derby, pushing forward early as they looked to strengthen their push for the title.

Express, who handed Gift Ali a debut against his former club, tried to stay compact but struggled to contain the hosts.

The breakthrough arrived in the 13th minute. Herbert Achai delivered a precise cross into the area and Ssebaduka rose highest to head home and give KCCA the lead.

Express tried to respond quickly and almost caught KCCA off guard when Elvis Ssekajugo attempted to lob the goalkeeper from long range, but the effort drifted off target.

KCCA continued to press and doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark. Ivan Ahimbisibwe capitalized on a defensive mistake by Express and calmly finished to make it 2–0.

The visitors were forced into an early change in the 36th minute when Gift Ali was withdrawn for Henry Wamala, but KCCA remained in control and carried their two-goal lead into halftime.

Express nearly found a way back shortly after the break when Asiimwe got a clear sight of goal, but his shot went just wide.

KCCA punished that miss almost immediately. In the 61st minute, Said Mayanja headed home from a Shafik Nana assist to stretch the lead to 3–0 and put the game beyond Express.

With the result secure, KCCA made several changes in the closing stages, including withdrawing Ssebaduka after an impressive performance that also earned him the Man of the Match award.

The win moves KCCA to 42 points in third place, one behind second-placed Kitara and five behind leaders Vipers. Express remain 11th with 20 points from 20 matches.

KCCA next visit Lugazi on Saturday, while Express host URA at Hamz Stadium.

Elsewhere, Vipers maintained their grip at the summit after edging UPDF 2–1 in Bombo, while URA secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Lugazi courtesy of Isma Mugulusi.
