  • Entebbe UPPC 0-2 SC Villa

SC Villa returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC at the Entebbe Fisheries Grounds on Saturday evening.

The Jogoos responded strongly after two frustrating outings against Express FC and Police FC, where they felt hard done by officiating decisions.

Villa started with intent and quickly put the hosts under pressure. Their bright start paid off in the 10th minute when Jonah Kakande picked out Frank Sebuffu, who finished calmly to give the visitors the lead.

The duo continued to trouble the UPPC defence. Sebuffu later slipped Najib Yiga through on goal, but goalkeeper Omedwa produced a fine save to keep his side in the game.

Villa did not wait long to extend their advantage. In the 22nd minute, Hassan Mubiru set up Yiga, who finished confidently to make it 2-0.

Entebbe UPPC struggled to match Villa’s tempo and rarely threatened despite a few attempts from distance and several set pieces.

Villa nearly added a third before halftime when Kakande was played through by Sebuffu but missed the one-on-one chance.

After the break, the visitors managed the game well, slowing the tempo and protecting their lead while limiting UPPC’s chances.

Villa defender Geoffrey Lubanga Kene delivered a solid performance at the back and was named man of the match.

The win lifts SC Villa to fourth place with 41 points, while Entebbe UPPC remain on 36.

Next, Villa face KCCA at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on April 11. Entebbe UPPC will travel to Najjembe to play Lugazi FC a day earlier.

Elsewhere, KCCA defeated Lugazi FC 3-0 in Najjembe, while Maroons FC and UPDF FC played out a goalless draw.
