2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Wednesday December 17, | MD 11
- SC Villa 1-0 Calvary
- Lugazi 1-2 Vipers
- Maroons 4-0 Express
- Mbarara City 1-0 URA
Aslam Ssemakula struck inside four minutes, and that early moment of composure was all SC Villa needed to see off Calvary 1-0 in a hard fought Uganda Premier League match at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Wednesday.
The game had barely settled when Calvary captain Stephen Oriokot tripped Najib Yiga in the box.
Ssemakula stepped up and calmly rolled in the penalty, giving Villa a lead they would defend with patience and discipline.
Villa looked for a second goal soon after. Frank Mulimi’s inviting cross flashed across goal, but Frank Ssebuufu arrived just too late.
Calvary’s best response came in the 26th minute, when Andrew Kiwanuka’s fierce effort forced goalkeeper David Lukwago into a sharp punch to safety.
The second half was cagey and short on ideas. Substitutions came and went, but clear chances were scarce as Villa focused on game management and Calvary struggled to break down a well organised defence.
At full time, Ssemakula’s early nerve proved decisive. The win moves SC Villa up to third on 23 points from 10 games, while Calvary stay bottom with just three points after 11 matches.
Defending champions Vipers SC continued their steady march with a 2-1 win over Lugazi at Lugazi Stadium.
