Hassan Wasswa’s International University of East Africa (IUEA) were held to a 0-0 draw by a resilient ten-man Bugema University in a University Football League clash at home on Tuesday.

IUEA dominated the first half, enjoying plenty of possession and creating several chances. In the 10th minute, Ntambula Henry linked up with Bbale Bayiga, whose shot went just over the crossbar.

Five minutes later, Bugema’s Bbale Trevor tested IUEA goalkeeper Kalungi with a long-range strike, brilliantly saved for a corner.

Just before the 20th minute, Ntambula struck the crossbar with another effort, keeping the game scoreless.

Kalungi was the standout for IUEA in the first half, denying Ssebunya Sharif and Bayiga on multiple occasions.

Bugema’s Jombwe Arthur received a red card in the 44th minute, reducing the visitors to ten men.

Despite the numerical advantage, IUEA struggled to break through in the second half.

Kalungi continued to thwart IUEA, including a parried free-kick from Farouk Iga in the 60th minute. Both sides had chances, with Ssebunya and Rugamba testing the goalkeeper, while Bugema’s Sawa Eric missed a rare opportunity in the 70th minute.

The draw keeps Bugema second in Group B with five points from three games, four behind leaders Muteesa I University, who have nine.

IUEA remain without a win this season, but showed promise in possession and attacking play.

University Football League action continues on Wednesday, November 12, when Makerere University host King Ceasor University.

Makerere sit fifth in Group E with three points but can move to the top with a win.
