2025/26 Uganda Premier League | Wednesday December 17, | MD 11
- Lugazi 1-2 Vipers
- Maroons 4-0 Express
- Mbarara City 1-0 URA
Vipers SC continued to look every bit like defending champions on Wednesday evening, easing past Lugazi FC 2-1 to keep the pressure on league leaders KCCA FC as the Uganda Premier League served up a lively midweek round.
At Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, Vipers were efficient rather than flashy. Usama Arafat struck early and Yunus Sentamu sealed it late, earning the Kitende side their seventh win of the season.
The visitors needed just seven minutes to go ahead. Enock Luyima’s cross was met by Milton Karisa, whose header was spilled by goalkeeper Juma Mutebi. Arafat reacted fastest, tapping in from close range.
Vipers stayed on the front foot, though Chukwuma Odili missed a clear chance to double the lead after slick play involving Karisa and Karim Watambala.
Lugazi offered brief resistance, with Alfred Mundekereza calmly dealing with Ashiraf Mulindi’s effort from a set piece to ensure Vipers went into the break ahead.
After halftime, Vipers remained patient. Odili forced a save early in the second half before the decisive moment arrived in the 74th minute.
Robin Kane Hney’s long pass released Sentamu, who coolly lifted the ball over Mutebi to wrap up the points.
With a minute to sum up the action, Mulindi pulled a goal back for the hosts to rise some pressure but damage was already done.
The win moves Vipers up to second on 24 points, two behind KCCA. Lugazi stay 14th, just above the drop zone on goal difference.
Elsewhere, Express FC endured a miserable afternoon as Maroons ran riot in a 4-0 win at the Luzira Prison Grounds.
Without top scorer Muhammed Ssenoga, Express were exposed. Raymond Walugembe opened the scoring before Emmanuel Obua struck twice to put the game beyond reach by halftime.
Brian Nkuubi added a late fourth to complete a chastening defeat. Maroons remain seventh on 15 points, while Express slip to eighth on 12.
URA FC’s struggles also continued, falling 1-0 to Mbarara City at Rwamanja.
Henry Kitegenyi’s hour mark penalty proved decisive, lifting Mbarara City to 13th on 10 points. URA stay 10th, only a point ahead but with pressure mounting.
The league action continues this evening at FUFA Kadiba Stadium, where an in-form SC Villa host Calvary FC as the battle for points intensifies across the table.
