2025/26 Uganda Premier League
- Vipers 5-1 UPDF
Vipers SC returned to winning ways in style on Tuesday evening, smashing UPDF FC 5–1 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. It was their fifth win of the Uganda Premier League season and easily their most convincing.
The Venoms set the tone early. Allan Okello nearly struck inside the opening ten minutes after a clever pass from Gusto Mulongo, but his effort flew over.
Usama Arafat soon forced goalkeeper Abdul Kimera into a full stretch save from a bending free kick, hinting at the flood to come.
The opener arrived in the 33rd minute when Milton Karisa tapped in after Mulongo accidentally redirected Arafat’s cross into his path.
Four minutes later, Mulongo turned scorer, finishing calmly after a pinpoint through ball from Okello.
UPDF clawed one back just before halftime through a stunning Samuel Ssekamatte free kick, but Vipers restored their cushion immediately, Mulongo heading in Arafat’s delivery to make it 3–1 at the break.
The second half was all Vipers. Five minutes after the restart, Robin Kane Hney unleashed a long-range rocket that left Kimera stranded.
Moments later, Moses Waiswa added the fifth, sliding a low shot through the goalkeeper’s legs to seal a dominant performance.
The result lifts Vipers to third place, only a point behind joint leaders KCCA FC and SC Villa. They now boast the league’s best goal difference, with 13 goals scored, level with URA and just three conceded. Next up is a trip to NEC FC on Friday at Lugogo.
For UPDF, the struggle continues. They remain 14th with six points from eight matches and will hope to reset when they host Lugazi FC on Friday at Bombo Barracks.
