- Vipers SC 4-1 Police FC
Vipers SC reinforced their grip on the Uganda Premier League summit with a convincing 4-1 victory over Police FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday.
The win takes the Venoms to 33 points, extending their lead at the top, while Police remain on 27 points, dropping to third.
The game started cautiously, with early chances for Police’s Brian James Obedi and Vipers’ Ashiraf Mandela going begging.
Vipers gradually imposed themselves, and the breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when Milton Karisa finished Karim Watambala’s precise assist.
Just five minutes later, Watambala doubled the lead, with the ball clearly crossing the line after hitting the bar.
Before halftime, Chukwuma Odili’s towering header from Usama Arafat’s cross made it 3-0, reflecting Vipers’ dominance.
Police pulled one back early in the second half through Said Kyeyune, but Vipers controlled the remainder of the match.
Yunus Sentamu’s introduction added fresh energy, and his delivery set up Arafat in the 73rd minute to seal a 4-1 victory.
Arafat’s performance earned him Man of the Match for his composure and attacking threat.
Vipers’ tactical substitutions kept their intensity high, highlighting the team’s depth and quality.
They now prepare to face Buhimba United Saints at Kitende on January 30, while Police will visit URA FC at Hamz Stadium on January 31.
