- Mbarara City FC 1-2 Vipers SC
Vipers SC stretched their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League with a hard fought 2–1 victory over Mbarara City FC at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge on Saturday evening.
The Venoms struck early through Arafat Usama, who finished calmly in the 17th minute after being set up by the impressive Milton Karisa.
The goal gave the visitors control of the opening half as they moved the ball well and created the better chances.
Karisa remained dangerous on the right flank but missed a clear chance to extend the lead, while Mbarara City struggled to break through a disciplined Vipers defense.
The visitors held a narrow 1–0 advantage at halftime after enjoying slightly more possession and the clearer opportunities.
Mbarara City returned from the break with renewed urgency and found their equaliser in the 65th minute.
Substitute Thomas Kakaire punished a lapse in the Vipers defence to level the match and lift the home crowd.
With the game finely balanced, Vipers turned to their bench for inspiration. The decision paid off in the 84th minute when Yunus Sentamu struck the winner, finishing off a late attack to restore the visitors’ lead.
Vipers managed the closing minutes well to secure the three points, with Karisa’s lively display earning him the Man of the Match award.
The result moves Vipers to 44 points, four clear at the top of the table, while Mbarara City remain 13th with 15 points.
Mbarara City next host Kitara FC on Tuesday, while Vipers travel to face UPDF FC in Bombo the following day.
