  • Lugazi FC 1-1 Entebbe UPPC

Billy Wabwire scored early to earn Lugazi FC a point in a 1-1 draw with Entebbe UPPC at Lugazi Stadium, Najjembe on Friday.

His quick reply, just two minutes after Entebbe took the lead, spared Lugazi another defeat as they continue to fight relegation.

Entebbe started better and went ahead in the 8th minute through Abraham Kakensa Tusubira, who finished a move set up by Tibita Laban. But the lead lasted only a minute.

Wabwire struck in the 10th minute, punishing a defensive lapse to level the score and lift the home crowd.

The game then turned physical, with few clear chances. Donato Okello and Amos Oteju were booked for Lugazi before halftime as the hosts tried to assert themselves.

The second half had energy but little quality in front of goal. Entebbe made changes after the hour, while Isa Mubiru and George Kiryowa were cautioned as the match grew tense.

Both sides pushed but could not find a winner. Lugazi showed fight in their bid to move away from danger, while Entebbe lacked the final touch.

The result leaves Lugazi 12th with 19 points, just four above the relegation zone, and still without a win since beating UPDF in February.

Entebbe UPPC, also winless since mid-February, move up to fifth with 37 points.

Rogers Omedwa was named man of the match for Entebbe UPPC.

Next, Lugazi visit bottom side Calvary FC in Yumbe on Wednesday April 15, while Entebbe travel to face Buhimba United Saints on Thursday April 16.
