2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 18 | Tuesday March 3,
- Kitara FC 2-0 Entebbe UPPC FC
Gadafi Wahab and Living Kabon delivered when it mattered as Kitara FC climbed to the top of the Uganda Premier League with a 2-0 win over Entebbe UPPC FC at Royals Park, Butema.
It was the second time in a week Kitara had beaten UPPC by the same scoreline, having knocked them out of the Uganda Cup earlier.
This one, however, carried more weight. The victory pushed Kitara to 39 points, one ahead of Vipers SC, and ended UPPC’s 11-match unbeaten league run.
The game began evenly. UPPC looked sharp early on, with Julius Poloto and Steven Munguchi both getting chances.
Munguchi will rue his miss after failing to convert into an empty net midway through the first half.
Kitara settled as the half wore on. Living Kabon was lively and nearly scored from a free kick that sailed just wide.
The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when Patrick Kaddu rose highest to set up Wahab, who powered in a header to give the hosts a deserved lead.
After the break, Kitara controlled the tempo. UPPC tried to respond through set pieces, but their efforts lacked precision.
Isa Bugembe and Muhammad Kyeyune both missed from promising positions.
The result was sealed in the 82nd minute. Substitute Edson Agondeze delivered a fine cross, and Kabon met it with a firm header to make it 2-0.
UPPC pushed late on but could not break through a disciplined Kitara defence. Jasper Aheebwa’s steady display in midfield earned him the Man of the Match award.
Kitara now sit top of the table, while UPPC remain fifth following Police FC’s 0-2 defeat to BUL FC in Kamwokya.
Kitara FC will return to action on Friday, March 6, with a tricky away fixture against UPDF FC, as Entebbe UPPC host URA FC a day after.
Later on today, NEC FC will host UPDF in Lugogo while Lugazi visit Vipers in Kitende, both at 8 pm
