URA FC Target First UPL Away Win Against Bright Stars

URA FC will be looking to make it two wins in two games when they face Soltilo Bright Stars away at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Thursday in an early UPL kickoff.

The Tax Collectors defeated Gaddafi 2-0 in their previous game, but had earlier shared spoils with UPDF in a goalless draw.

Their interim coach, Fred Muhumuza, is optimistic that his team has what it takes to pick up their first away win of the season.

“We are set and ready to take on Bright Stars FC and we hope to pick up our first away win,” Muhumuza said.

“We have trained well and are ready for the task ahead. It’s an early kickoff tie but this doesn’t scare us as we played against the same opponent at that very time last season and we won,” he added.

In the last 21 meetings between both sides, URA FC have won 9 times with 9 draws, scoring 25 goals and collecting 36 points.

During the pre-season, URA beat Bright Stars 2-1 in the FUFA Super 8 quarterfinals in Lugazi while last season Ibrahim Dada and former player Kabon Living were on target as they defeated Bright Stars 2-0 at Kavumba.

Just like Muhumuza, team captain Hudu Mulikyi is confident they can pick a result away from home.

“We are in good spirits ahead of our early kickoff tie at Soltilo Bright Stars,” Mulikyi said.

“We know they want to get their first season win but we also want to get our first win away and that will push us a lot to get maximum points.”

Bright Stars have not won any of their two games this season, losing to BUL 1-0 and settling for a 1-1 draw with Wakiso Giants.

Their coach, Joseph Mutyaba, believes the point they attained against Wakiso Giants motivated them to perform well in the coming games.

“We have to work hard to get a result,” Mutyaba said. “We are at home and we can use it as an added advantage.”

In another match on Thursday, Busoga United will host Express at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in Buikwe District.

This game last season ended in fans violence, with FUFA awarding Express the victory (3-0) and deducting three goals and points from Busoga.

Busoga were also advised that they will host five home games behind closed doors if they repeat the incident.
