URA FC Thrash Mbarara City 3-0, Brightstars draw at NEC

URA FC defeated Mbarara City 3-0 in the Uganda Premier League at Mehta Sports Stadium, Lugazi on Friday crucially keeping their fourth clean sheet this season.

They had last achieved the feat against Wakiso Giants in October, a match they won 1-0. They also beat Gaddafi 2-0 and shared spoils with UPDF in a goalless draw earlier on.

Norman Namanya, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Moses Aliro each scored a goal for the tax collectors, moving them to 6th place in the table with 20 points.

URA teenage combative midfielder John Innocent Kisolo marked his debut with a man of the match performace.

The victory saw URA return to winning ways after settling for a 2-2 draw against Busoga United in their previous game.

For Mbarara City the defeat meant that the Ankole Lions have continued to struggle away from home, drawing three and losing the other three on the road this season.

Mbarara City who remained winless in three consecutive games leaving them them five places below URA in 11th on 13 points.

In the day’s other match, NEC and Soltilo Bright Stars could only play out a goalless draw under the MTN Omondi Stadium floodlights. NEC remain fifth on 21 points while Bright Stars are five places below on 15 points.
