On the fairway of the 7th Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association Elite Games in Bombo, shocks mixed with joy for Giant Schools in Boys football, taking center stage.

On Friday, February 27, St Mary’s Boarding School opened up the championship when they beat Fort Portal 5-1, but the celebrations were short-lived as they were shocked by Uganda Martyrs High School in game number 2.

From morning ego to humbled evening, Uganda Martyrs shockingly fired the Giants 2-1. Ivan Gerega opened the score in the first half, and later Usama Kyabaggu doubled before Denis Kisiriko Luzige found a consolation for SMASK.

In other news, Menter SS continued to walk with pride as they sabotaged another Giant, Bukedea Comprehensive, in a 2-2 draw. The stubborn ones were fighting from behind to stage a concrete beginning, which lifted them to beat tournament hosts Janan SS 3-0.

Meanwhile, Buddo SS, the current number one footballing school, were equipped enough to narrowly commence their dominance by beating emerging force Kyadondo SS 1-0 and Standard High Zana 2-0.

In a return from a disappointing draw, Bukedea Comprehensive managed to limp past Kawempe Muslim with a 1-0 win. Earlier, Kawempe Muslim had won 2-0 over Host Janan SS.

The games are commencing on Saturday, 28 before turning to a climax on Sunday, 1st March 2026 at Janan Secondary School Bombo.
