The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, fair play, and sportsmanship in school sports by taking decisive action against rule violations.

As the governing body responsible for organizing and regulating secondary school sports across the country, USSSA continues to enforce strict measures to ensure integrity in competitions.

Banned Schools and Reasons for Suspension
USSSA has imposed bans on five schools found guilty of breaching tournament regulations.

These violations range from age cheating and the use of ineligible players to misconduct and document forgery. The affected schools and their respective bans include:

  • St. Andrews Kaggwa Gombe High School – Banned from all USSSA football tournaments for two years.
  • Royal Giants High School – Banned from all USSSA football tournaments for two years.
  • Tororo Town College – Banned from U20 football tournaments for two years.
  • Musana Vocational High School – Banned from U20 volleyball tournaments for two years.
  • Madinah Islamic School – Banned from U16 football tournaments for two years.

These penalties serve as a stern warning to other schools about the consequences of violating USSSA regulations.

The Association has consistently emphasized the importance of compliance, ensuring that only eligible players compete in tournaments to uphold the spirit of fair competition.

While some schools face new bans, others have successfully completed their suspensions and are set to return to action in USSSA competitions.

The following schools have completed their bans from U20 football tournaments and are eligible to compete again as of May 2024:

  • Kawempe Royal College Bulaga
  • Janan Schools Bombo
  • Kabwohe Secondary School
  • Victoria High School Vvumba

Having served their suspensions, these schools now have an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to fair play and ethical sportsmanship.

Their return to competition underscores the rehabilitative aspect of the bans, encouraging adherence to USSSA rules in the future.

USSSA enforces bans on schools that violate tournament regulations to maintain credibility and discipline in secondary school sports.

The primary reasons for suspensions include:

  • Age Cheating – Fielding overage players in youth tournaments.
  • Use of Ineligible Players – Registering non-students or players from other schools.
  • Misconduct & Violence – Unacceptable behaviour by players, coaches, or fans.
  • Forgery of Documents – Falsifying academic or player records.

By imposing these bans, USSSA deters future violations and ensures that all participating schools uphold the principles of integrity and sportsmanship.

The impact of these suspensions extends beyond just the national level, affecting participation at district, zonal, regional, and even international competitions.
