Lubiri Secondary School is one step away from qualifying for the Uganda Secondary School Sports Association Boys’ football championship after recording four wins in a row.
The Dan Ssegawa-coached school completed the sweep with a 2-0 win over City High at Kibuli Secondary School’s ground on Friday, April 10.
Key player Marith Abuyi scored in the first half of the game, and James Ssali doubled the lead in the second half with a stunning free kick.
Earlier in the group, Lubiri SS defeated Kyambogo College 3-0 with Bony Namiti, Vincent Marvin Kawuki, and Marith Abuyi scoring the goals in the game played on Friday morning.
On Thursday, Lubiri SS started the regional qualifiers with a 2-0 win over Kazo Hill and a 2-1 win over giants Kibuli SS on Thursday, April 9.
With Lubiri already in the knockout stage, Kibuli SS remains focused on qualifying for the knockout stage as the second-placed team in Group C, but they have to beat Kyambogo College in the final group game on Saturday, April 11, in the morning at Mengo SS. On Friday, Kibuli SS humbled Kazo Hill 3-1.
Elsewhere, Kololo SS, under Bruno Ssegirinya, defeated Bishop Cyprian Kihangire 1-0 with Josiah Grace scoring the goal in the second half of the game.
Bishop Cyprian Kihangire had earlier won 3-1 over Caltec Academy, who continue to receive punishments, as in the other game they lost to Buziga Islamic 3-1 as well.
Tomorrow, the group stage will fully wind up with 6 games in the morning at different venues as follows.
